| Outside Texas Routes Route 01 Tour the Smokies Loop (Ft Worth - Great Smoky Mountain NP - Ft Worth) 2408 Miles | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Please disregard the yellow numbered squares as they don't necessarily mean anything. I had to insert them in my mapping software to force the desired route. I've never ridden in this direction except for Arkansas on short weekend trips. I've always ridden west. However, I've heard so much good stuff about the Smokies, I've planned this route for the future. This route starts at home (Fort Worth) and heads east. It passes thru the Talimena Scenic Byway in Oklahoma and Arkansas. It continues east into nortern Mississippi and follows part of the Natchez Trace Parkway. It continues on and makes a loop around the Smokies, including Deal's Gap, and returns back thru Shreveport for a quick stop to play a little Texas Hold'em. Then it's straight back to Fort Worth. |

This is the entire route which is obviously hard to read because of the scale. I included it to give a perspective of the full route. Below, I will break it up into sections that make it easier to read. There are seven map sections below that make up the entire route. |
This is the first section that goes across the Talimena Scenic Byway in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. I have ridden this in the past and it is very nice. |
This is the next section that goes thru Arkansas and northern Mississippi, including part of the Natchez Trace Parkway. |
This section clips a portion of Alabama and into Tennessee. |
This section includes the loop thru the Smokies, including a run thru Deal's Gap, and starts the return home. |
This section cuts across Alabama and Mississippi. I don't know much about this particular route, but at least it avoids the Interstate. |
This part gets us to Shreveport, where we'll play in a Texas Hold'em tournament at one of the casinos. (Gotta pay for this trip someway!!) |
Well, this part uses the Interstate, but I'm sure we'll be ready to get home. Plus, I grew up in east Texas and have seen it all several times. |
