Weatherford - Breckenridge, Texas Loop

219 Miles

This was just a little day trip to get out and ride a bit. We left my house in Willow Park about 10:30AM. It had rained a little earlier in the morning and was still overcast with threatening rain, but who cares.

We took mostly back roads on this ride. Where I have marked them as "Hwy", they are really Farm to Market roads and County roads. I didn't take very many pictures because there's just not much to look at in this part of Texas.

Mark's FJR. First stop to gas up near my house.

My ST. From here we followed Hwy 180 thru downtown Weatherford. A few miles out of Weatherford we took a County Road that goes thru the little town of Millsap.

A slight change in plans here. This was on Hwy 2201 just before Santo. We had to backtrack and detour on I-20 to Hwy 4 thru Santo.

Another shot at the roadblock. I'm trying to get the terrain in this picture. You can barely see the hills in the background just over the Road Closed sign. Just west of here in Palo Pinto County, it is very hilly.

This is downtown Breckenridge, population approximately 6,000. This is actually a pretty big building for a town this size. We stopped here to find a place to eat lunch on our GPS units.

Speaking of these GPS units, they are very handy if you load your planned route before leaving. There is all kinds of information available, such as restaurants, hotels/motels, points of interest, etc. including the phone numbers. Of course when you find something you want to go to, you simply press the button to navigate to it. It won't let you make a wrong turn.

We ate lunch at the Dairy Queen. These are usually pretty good places to eat in small Texas towns.

Another shot taken at the Dairy Queen. On Mark's bike you can see where his GPS is mounted on the right side of the handlebars. On the left he has his satellite radio mounted. I have the same setup on my bike. The satellite radio is pretty nice when you are out on the road.

This is the last photo taken for the day. We stopped here in Graham for a bottle of water and to activate our cooling vests. It was getting pretty warm and we still had about a hundred miles to go.
