This trip was taken back in our Harley days. I didn't take very many pictures then because I didn't anticipate this website. I was just out for the ride and didn't think about taking pictures. But, now that I'm doing this website, I intend to document my trips better. There were three of us on this trip, Mark, my son, Allen a friend of ours, and myself. We rode from the DFW area to Durango for the Four Corners Rally. The following pictures are from a three day loop we took from there. Then the following days are just day trips from Durango, as that was our base. We are planning another trip for this fall back thru Colorado, so I will update this section with another trip. Actually our planned trip takes us all the way to Glacier National Park and at least to the Canadian border. I'll hopefully have that trip on here by mid September. |

This route took us over Independence Pass near Aspen and then thru Rocky Mountain National Park.

Independence Pass just east of Aspen. Mark, my son, is riding the purple Road King on the left. I'm riding the black Road King in the middle and Allen is riding the Vulcan, which I sold to him. I actually rode the Vulcan to the Four Corners Rally two years earlier on a trip by myself.

Some of the remains of the old Independence Townsite near Aspen.

A couple of biker hoodlums.

Now we're in Rocky Mountain National Park. Still a little snow on the ground. I remember calling my wife back in Arlington that night. She said the high temperature that day at home was 103 degrees. A little different here.

Pretty nice scenery. You can see part of the road on the lower left of the picture.

A closer look at the previous shot.

Mark and his Road King.

Me and my Road King.

The road thru the park is called Trail Ridge Road. This is a very scenic ride, but sometimes you have to go a little slow because of the traffic.

Allen and myself at Milner Pass.

Above the tree line with a thunderstorm on the way.

We had to put on our rain gear for a while, plus it was getting cold. We stopped in Estes Park for the night, which is just outside the eastern gates of the park.
