406 Miles

<< Day 7 Colorado 2007 Main Page Day 9 >>

This is the total route for the day. This was the longest ride in Colorado exceeded only by the to and from rides from Texas.

This is an expanded look at the first half of the route. This part follows Hwy. 6 along Clear Creek to Golden. There's a scenic ride above Golden which we did.

This is the second half which included Cripple Creek and then Hwy. 50 along the Arkansas River.

A nice morning in Estes Park. We had a nice dinner at the Grumpy Gringo Mexican Restaurant (Grumpy Gringo). Being from Texas I give this place a B+. It's pretty good, but a little pricey.

This is Clear Creek along Hwy. 6 toward Golden. This is a very nice road, but too close to civilization which creates too much traffic.

Another shot of Clear Creek.

The bikes along Hwy. 6.

This was taken from the scenic drive above Golden.

I zoomed in to get a picture of the Coors Brewery in Golden.

This is the South Platte River at a little place called Deckers just south of Pine.

Another look up river at some fly fishermen.

This is the full extent of Deckers.

Gas stop in Woodland Park. You can barely see Pikes Peak in the distance right in the center of the photo.

We're in Cripple Creek. This is a sand sculpture right behind where we parked.

Looking west down the main street in Cripple Creek.

One of the many casinos in Cripple Creek.

The bikes in Cripple Creek. That sand sculpture is right behind them.

A rest stop along Hwy. 50 by the Arkansas River.

The Arkansas River.

We stopped in Salida to decide whether we needed the rain gear.

Well we made it to Monarch Pass with no rain.

There's a gondola to the top, but we didn't ride it.

Mark at Monarch Pass.

Now me at Monarch Pass. This was the last picture of the day. Just a few miles to Gunnison, it's been a long ride.
