This is the route for Day 2. Taos to Gunnison. This route goes over Wolf Creek Pass, through Creede and then Lake City. These were some great roads.
It rained very hard just after we arrived in Taos last night, but this morning is gorgeous. We were lucky that the motel we were in had a decent restaurant.

Mountains in the distance just west of Taos at the Rio Grande crossing.

Looking down into the gorge formed by the Rio Grande river. Notice the white speck about halfway down. I don't know what it is.
I zoomed in for a closer look, but I still don't know what it is. I don't thinks it's a car or truck because I don't know how it could have gotten that far off the road. Maybe it's a hot air balloon basket?

This was taken from the opposite side of the road looking down at the river.

This is a long gorge.
When you stop to look at the gorge you can also get in all your shopping.
We had to park at the far end of the parking area. The vendors take all of the up close area.
Stopped for a break just south of Charma, NM.
About to enter my favorite motorcycle riding state.

Mark is dwarfed by the trees and mountains.
Mark a little bit closer.
Stopped in South Fork because it's beginning to rain. Looking north toward where we're headed it looks worse.
We decided to put on our rain gear.
Main street in Creede. They were having a Labor Day party.
Debating whether to keep the rain gear on or not.

Me at a stop above the head waters of the Rio Grande.

Stopped along the road just before Lake City.
The little town of Lake City is down there somewhere.

Looking back at our bikes.

From the point above, this is looking across a valley at the road we're about to ride.

This is where Hwy 149 intersects Hwy 50 at Blue Mesa lake just west of Gunnison. This was the last picture of the day. We were ready for a shower and something to eat.
