This is the route for Day 3.
Getting ready at our motel in Gunnison. There's a great pizza restaurant (Marios's Pizza) right downtown Gunnison where we ate dinner last night. Highly recommended.
We stopped in Crested Butte to ask whether the road we planned to ride west out here is paved or gravel. It's gravel for about 30 miles. Oh well, we'll give it a try.
A look across the road before we ride the gravel road.
We're about five miles down the road now. It's not too bad. It's hard packed so we rode about 30mph.

Me along the dirt road.

This is a better shot of the road.

The bikes always look better in the mountains.
This grove of Aspens was really pretty.

From the opposite direction.

This mountain looks like one solid rock.
Stopped for a break in Carbondale.
That's the way we are going. Looks like we're going to get wet again.
Stopped for a break about 50 south of Steamboat Springs. We hit I-70 at Glenwood Springs after leaving Carbondale. If you have to ride on an Interstate, this is the one to ride. I can honestly say it was fun. Sweeper after sweeper at 75mph. Gorgeous scenery along the way.

The terrain is fairly flat here. It's been rainy off and on, so we're ready to get to Steamboat. This was the last picture of the day. We stayed at the Super 8 motel in Steamboat which is just across the street from the Holiday Inn. There's a restaurant there that was really good. (Rex's Grill)
