This is the total route for the day. It includes the Cache de Poudre River ride and Rocky Mountain National Park. If you've never ridden the Cache de Poudre, it's worth the trip. The only problem is there's a lot of traffic the closer you get to Fort Collins. Of course this was right in the middle of Labor Day weekend, which I'm sure didn't help. Next time we're going to make sure we go through here in the middle of the week.

Early morning in Steamboat. We had some overnight rain, but it's just cloudy now. We got lucky and found a good place to eat right across the street (Rex's Grill).

Packing up in front of our motel. It's pretty cool and looks like it could rain.

Our first stop was in Walden. This is a neat little town. We met a couple of guys here from New Jersey on their bicycles. They had already ridden over 1,700 miles and weren't stopping until they got to Oregon. They said they tried to ride between 70 and 100 miles per day. They said they got held up in Fort Collins for two days because there were too many breweries there.

Looking east in Walden toward the Cache de Poudre.

Thirty miles or so out of Walden, Rocky Mountain National Park comes into view. We'll ride through there later today.

State forest information.

Maybe you can read this one.

The Cache de Poudre river.

We're back in the mountains now.

Horsetooth Resevoir west of Fort Collins.

Another look at the lake.

Our bikes where we stopped for a break at the lake.

In Estes Park looking toward RMNP.

A zoomed in look of the shot above.

In the park looking back down at the road behind us.

Nice scenery.

One of the roadside stops.

The road we came in on sitting on a ledge.

These little guys are used to people. They come right up to you for something to eat.

The Visitor Center at the top. The air is thin here. It doesn't take a lot of exertion to loose your breath.

This is just outside the Visitor's Center. There's more snow this year than last.

We couldn't spend too much time there because the clouds were moving in. At this altitude, it will probably be snow instead of rain.

On the way out of the park we saw several cars stopped along the road. There's something in those trees.

There he is. These things are big, about the size of a horse.

One more shot of the moose.
