This is the route for the day. It originally included going further south by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, but we decided to cut it a little shorter because we had been arriving late at our destinations every day. We wanted a little relaxation time. It did go through the Grand Mesa which is very nice.

I walked out of the room early and barely got the camera on to get a picture of these geese overhead.

Looking across the street from the motel.

This is looking the opposite direction from the photo above. That's our bikes still covered.

This restauarant is across the street from the motel. We ate there last night. We keep trying to find good tex-mex but it's hard to do outside of Texas.

This is the motel where we stayed. It was nice and had a laundry onsite which we used.

I think this was the lowest pass we went over. It's not too far south of Carbondale.

Our bikes at McClure Pass.

The Aspen trees are thick in this area.

This is near Hotchkiss. For some reason Jamie wanted me to take their picture.

The bikes at the same rest stop as above.

Jamie and Nancy trying to figure out their wardrobe again.

We stopped for another break at a little town named Cory. We may have had the best fresh peach I have ever eaten. The lady that owned the store also has a peach orchard with over 500 trees. She gave all four of us a peach that had been picked the night before and they were very, very good.

Parking lot a the Grand Mesa Visitor Center.

This is the view from the deck of the Visitor Center.

It seems like the trees were prettier here than anywhere else we went.

I zoomed in quickly on this bird which was about 50 yards away. I don't know what kind it is but it was a bright blue.

Looking back at the parking lot from the Visitor Center.

Jamie on the deck of the Visitor Center.

Me at the same location.

This lake is just north of the Visitor Center.

Another shot of the bikes at the Visitor Center.

We're headed down the mesa here. This is looking toward Grand Junction.

This is a zoomed in look at the the photo above.

Their bike at the stop above.

Now ours.

Jamie at the break above.

The vegetation is plush in this area. It gets a lot of rain during the summer and a lot of snow in the winter.
