<< Day 5 Glacier 2006 Main Page Day 7 >>

First half of the route for Day Six. (Livingston was approximately half way.)

Second half of the route for Day Six. (This route took us through Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.) Today's route was a little shorter because of the two parks where the traffic is slow.

This is just south of Great Falls. This was reallly a nice ride.

Took a break at this roadside park.

This road had great sweeping turns which you could take without slowing down much. Great road.

Another shot on the same road.

A small ski area near Monarch, MT.

Dropping out of the mountains at White Sulphur Springs. We stopped here for a drink of water. This is looking south along the main road.

Dirt again. This was only about 3 miles though.

It's really smokey here.

This is the Yellowstone River after it comes out of the park.

Looking the opposite direction from the shot above.

This is a little further down the road and another stop at the Yellowstone River.

This is the same place as above. These rafters were having a good time.

This is at the north entrance to Yellowstone NP in Gardiner, Montana. I think this arch was built at the direction of Teddy Roosevelt for Yellowstone.

This is from the arch looking back at Gardiner.

This is the official entrance to the park.

Looking back at the arch and Gardiner from the entrance.

A distant look at Mammoth Hot Springs in the north portion of Yellowstone.

A small waterfall along the road.

This is looking back down the road from the waterfall.

A partial bridge along the cliff.

This is what it used to look like. I think I'll take the new one.

It's hard to see, but this whole hillside is emitting steam.

This elk was only about 50 yards from the road, but seemed undisturbed by all the people taking his picture.

A little closer look. There's a small one with him.

This guy was totallly by himself. He looked pretty old because it looked like his hair was gray. I don't know if that means anything in an animal, but he just looked old.

This is Old Faithful in one of its less dramatical moments.

This is a close up view of Old Faithful. We didn't stay for an eruption because it would take another hour.

This is the Visitor Center at Old Faithful.

There's another elk down there.

Here's a close up look at him.

Once you exit Yellowstone, it's just 5-6 miles to Grand Teton.

Grand Teton has spectacular views but the smoke made it almost impossible to see.

Another try to get a good shot.

Had to get the bikes in with the mountains.

One last try to get a good picture. This was the last of the day. Once again we were ready to stop for the day. It was beginning to rain and we were only a few miles from Jackson.
