Home (Willow Park) to Fredericksburg
255 Miles
Day 2 >>

This is the total route from home to Fredericksburg. Below I have broken it down into two parts so you can see more detail.

First half of route for Day One

Second half of route for Day One

We decided to meet at the Waffle House in Benbrook, Texas which is where we always meet on trips toward the south. It had rained all night and was still raining when we met.

This is Mark's FJR, wet but ready to go.

This is a look down the street beside the Waffle House. It doesn't look too promising that it will clear up any time soon.

We stopped in Hico for a break. It still doesn't look like it's going to clear off.

This is the store where we stopped. Out of the rain for a bit.

This is the famed Koffee Kup Restaurant in Hico. People come from miles for a piece of one of their pies. I'm not a big pie eater, but they claim it's the best there is.

Stopped for gas in Burnet. Notice the the pavement is dry.

My ST at the same gas stop.

These guys were hauling their Harleys somewhere in the Hill Country. They had Texas license plates. I don't think there's anywhere in Texas that's too far to ride and requires hauling your bike. I used to haul mine on occasion, but at least it was from Texas to Colorado.

Another shot at the gas stop in Burnet. You can actually see some blue sky here.

Lunch break. We stopped at the legendary Coopers BBQ. This place has a big name and is always written up as one of the best in Texas. However, I've had better BBQ at numerous places. I think it just gained a reputation that everyone abides by. I'm guilty of stopping here several times though, but I still believe it's overrated.

We were going to ride the Willow City Loop before we got to Fredericksburg, but it was closed due to high water. This shot was taken from the detour route we took. It's getting cloudy again.

We made it to Fredericksburg and checked in our motel. This was taken from the balcony and as you can see, it's starting raining again.

This is another shot from the balcony toward the hills. This is really beatiful country, too bad it's raining. It's supposed to do that when you're in your car. This was the last shot of the day. We put on some shorts and walked downtown to look around. I didn't take the camera because it kept raining off and on.
