Jacksboro for Lunch Loop

119 Miles

It's not easy talking my wife into going for a ride with me. But because I said I wasn't going far, she decided to go. So we made a little loop from home up to Jacksboro for lunch. More on where we ate later.

We stopped for a drink in Graford. It's around 11:00AM but it's already getting hot.

Here's a classic. This is all Harley. It's what they called Servo or something like that. When I first saw it, I thought it was built on a VW differential, but it's Harley.

From the other side. That's the owner stocking the ice chest with a case of beer.

Here I am at the same break in Graford.

Here's where we ate in Jacksboro. I've eaten at Herd's in Jacksboro before and it's good and gets most of the writeups in various motorcycle literature. However, there's a couple on things I like about Dairyland over Herds. First the hamburgers are ever bit as good if not better and you can sit in air conditioned comfort while you eat. Here's a third. They have a much larger menu including BBQ, Fajitas, ice cream and more. They're closed on Tuesdays, so plan accordingly.

Here's a fourth reason, you can park in the shade.

Here's a different shot of the place.

I parked under the awning in front. This is looking north on 281.

This is David Inman, son of Harold Inman who started the business here 45 years ago. You've got to be good to stay in the restaurant business that long.

After lunch we headed home on Hwy. 199 South. We stopped here for a short break. This is where FM920 intersects Hwy. 199 and goes south to Weaterford.

The Malt Shop in Weatherford was celebrating their 50th Anniversary. Boy did they have a crowd. Hamburgers were $0.50 and soft drinks were $0.05. There were probably around 500 people there when we stopped for the photo.

Another shot of the Malt Shop. This was the last photo of the day as the Malt Shop is only about 5 miles from our house. It was a nice short ride, but very hot.
